Update Sunday (30/04/2017)

Update time!

This is the space where I give you a quick briefing on various things that have occupied me this week – songs that have been in my head, movies I’ve been obsessed with, books I’ve been absorbed in, etcetera.

The Wishing Heart – J.C. Welker. This is an ARC I requested on Netgalley, and I’m about a quarter of the way through now. Lesbian protagonist, and djinn? Hell yeah! Watch this space for a review of this incredible book.

Listening To

The entire Hamilton soundtrack. I have no regrets.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. This anime is just one of those things that can’t be put into words. You just have to watch it to appreciate how awesome it is.

Waiting For

acowar_usA Court of Wings And Ruin! I’ve been waiting a whole year for this, and it’s gotten to the point where I’m having to actively avoid any major spoilers. Seriously, if you’re lucky enough to have gotten an ARC of a book like that, use some common decency, and don’t post spoilers!!!!

If you’re at all interested in any of these things, please comment about it – I like talking to nice people about common interests.

Happy reading!

Anything But Books: The Tag

It’s tag time again! The lovely Cristina tagged me to do this, and I’m so excited, so lets go!

Name a cartoon that you love.

Miraculous Ladybug FTW! Adrien Agreste is literal perfection, and I want my own kwami to guide me through life.

What is your favourite song right now?

“She was Nancy Mulligan

And I was William Sheeran

She took my name and then we were one

Down by the Wexford border”

What could you do for hours that isn’t reading?

This isn’t going to come as a surprise to anyone who follows me on Instagram, but I’m more than happy to spend hours and hours on either my knitting or my crocheting. Especially if it’s my big blue fluffy blanket that I’ll still be knitting in the afterlife.

What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

Well, it’s confession time – I play Pokemon Go, and I love it. Whenever it first came out, everyone was playing it, but I didn’t have anything to play it on, but now I have my iPhone, and I can play it now, even though basically nobody else seems to be playing any more.

And yes, that is me catching a Swinub while editing this blog post.

What is your favourite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?

I just love learning random little facts that are no use to anyone’s actual life, but they’re fun to bring up nonetheless. I don’t know if this is what the question means, but it’s random.

What is something unusual that you know how to do?

Not particularly unusual, but I can eat a whole carton of Ben & Jerry’s in one sitting? Does that count?

Name something you made in the last year and show us if you can.

See, now this is my category! Okay, lets see….

There’s my crochet doll I just finished, my cosy knitted snood (made with 20mm needles!), and my Golden Snitch (my first ever amigurumi project):

What is your most recent personal project?

I’ve started crocheting a bag to put my yarn in (yes, I see the irony in that) and I’m currently working on the mesh part of the bag, so look out for photos on my Instagram!

Tell us something that you think about often?

One of the guys I work with – he’s six foot seven, with hair he can put into a man-bun, a bit of a beard, hipster glasses, and he’s artistic. Yeah, yeah, I should be thinking about more important things, but damn, he’s hot!

Give us something that is your favourite.

Say the first thing that pops into your head

“My name is Alexander Hamilton….”

Quick Update…

Okay, so you have probably not even seen yet, but….I revamped my blog design! I gave it a new theme, and it’s different now.

My request to you all is as follows: Can you please have a look at it, and comment below what you think of it compared to before? That is, if you actually saw what my blog looked like before, instead of just reading posts in the Reader.

Also enjoy the gratuitous Supernatural gifs that I enjoy using so much.

Thank you!

Sunday Update (23/04/17)

Another week, more obsessions! I’m always discovering new stuff, and that’s what this (somewhat) weekly thing is about – me, showing you this cool stuff that’s been occupying me this past week.

Listening to: Figure Me Out – The Summer Set

A new discovery on Spotify, and thank god I did. I’m OBSESSED with this song in particular, but just the band in general, is just awesome.

Reading: Back Piece – L.A Witt

I love, love, love L.A Witt’s writing, as evidenced by the multiple glowing reviews of her stuff on this blog, and this was no exception. Review is yet to come.

Watching: Doctor Who

Because Bill Potts is now officially my favourite Doctor Who companion – I mean, look at this cinnamon roll:

Crocheting: Weebee Standard Size Baby Doll

Finished the body – finally!! Now for the head… #wip #crochet #amigurumidoll #amigurumi #crochetgram

A post shared by Becca (@redboobecca) on

My pet project at the moment, I’m currently on the head part, and now my safety eyes have arrived from Ebay, I can finally finish the head! After that, it’s the arms and then adding other features, and then done!

Talk to me about these things, and other things you’ve been into this week – trust me, I want to know (because I have no life).

Happy reading!

Weekly Update (22/01/17)

Another week, a whole new set of obsessions. I’m actually surprised by how much I’ve actually done this week, and thus, I shall share them with you, my lovely blogger people.

Listening To: Rose Tint My World – Rocky Horror Picture Show. This song is my jam!

Watching: Riyadh K. I’ve been obsessed with this Irish Youtuber’s videos all week, just because he’s so funny, and open, and very, very attractive. I found him from one of his collabs with Melanie Murphy (another great Youtuber of Irish birth), and I’m glad I did. You should definitely watch his videos, starting with this one:

Reading: Eat, Pray Love – Elizabeth Gilbert. I’ve heard so much about this particular book before, and I’m curious whether it matches up to the hype or not, since I’ve never read the book or seen the movie before.

Discovering: UNICORN HOT CHOCOLATE!!! One of my Youtubers (Noodlerella) did a DIY video the other day about it, and I’m in love with this glittery, edible treat. I mean, look! Pink hot chocolate!

Isn’t it just delicious?

Tell me your weekly obsessions this week – trust me, I want to know! I’m always up for recommendations of any kind, so send them all my way.

Update Sunday (15/01/17)

Another Sunday, another update  – this is a thing I do where I let you in on what I’ve been obsessing over this past week. Trust me, there’s stuff here. Let’s get it going:

Reading: The Wheel Mages – Aimee Davis. I got this book from the author herself, and I’m so much in love with it right now! It’s the perfect mix of all my favourite high fantasy elements, and the characters are so freaking awesome that I’m fangirling my head off right now. Now if I could only remember to charge my Kindle so I can read the rest of it…..

Listening: Head Over Boots – Jon Pardi. Oh my god, don’t even get me started on this song!! It’s so cute, and especially after I saw this freaking adorable video on Tumblr.this freaking adorable video on Tumblr. Just yeah, go watch them both.

Watching: Smallville. Lots and lots of Smallville. I know Lex Luthor’s meant to be evil and psychotic, but Michael Rosenbaum just gets to me. I mean, look at him!

Waiting On: Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. As of Friday, the wait is finally over, but all week has been absolutely hell, seemingly dragging by just to torture me with the waiting for this show. I haven’t watched it yet since I’ve been working extra shifts this week at work, but I’m going to binge watch it all tonight. Yay!

First of all, do you think I should make a cool graphic thing for the top of this? I want to make more graphic things for this blog – like paragraph headers, and a new blog header as well – but what do you all think? Let me know your opinions.

Also, if you like any of the things I’ve mentioned above, talk to me, and we can fangirl together (especially over how amazing Michael Rosenbaum is).

Happy reading!
