Title: I Heart New York

Author: Lindsay Kelk

Synopsis: Fleeing her cheating boyfriend and clutching little more than a crumpled bridesmaid dress, a pair of Louboutins and her passport, Angela jumps on a plane, destination – NYC.

Holed up in a cute hotel room, Angela gets a New York makeover from her NBF Jenny and a whirlwind tour of the city that never sleeps. Before she knows it, Angela is dating two sexy guys. And, best of all, she gets to write about it in her new blog (Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out). Angela has fallen head over heels for the big apple, but does she heart New York more than home?

Rating: 5 Stars

Review: If you’re looking for the perfect chick lit book to get you in the mood for a fun summer of romance, then look no further than this. As I pointed out in my top five summer reads list yesterday, this is my ultimate summer read.

The protagonist, Angela, finds out that her boyfriend is a lying and cheating wuss-bag, so what do you do in that situation? Naturally, you storm into your best friend’s wedding, break the groom’s knuckles with your shoe while yelling at aforementioned best friend, and then flee to New York. Naturally. From there on, Angela goes through friendship and romantic problems that are very reminiscent of the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw and co.

The plot of the novel just flows together, and you get so whipped up with the storyline that you almost forget you’re anywhere but Manhattan.  There’s a reason this is my favourite chick lit book, and that reason wears skinny jeans and plays in an indie band from Brooklyn. (Read the book!)

Verdict: If you like Sex and The City, or Bridget Jones’ Diary, then this book is a must-read. It’ll give you that fluffy feeling that you crave so much.
